Typical you’s

Once you spend enough time with someone, you might notice a certain pattern in other’s behavior.

Maybe a certain way they smile.
A hand gesture.
A word or phrase they often say.

A while back I spent an intense month with 3 colleagues from abroad.
Not only at work, but we’d also hang out in the evenings.
On our last evening we started pointing out our “typical you’s” to each other.

I was pointed out a couple of things.
Apparently, I use the word “apparently” and “anyhow” a lot.
Go figure! 😉

I thought about it later and it does make sense.
Googles gives the following definition for “apparently”:

As far as one knows or can see

Makes sense! I hardly ever believe in anything someone says without prove.
Barely even scientists.

Anyhow is a fitting one for me as well.
Unless facts, I am not a very good story-teller.
I often put too many stories in one and I don’t talk about the purpose of the actual story.
That’s when Anyhow comes in handy.

More than often I have also been told that I have a “smirk face”.
Actually that’s something I see back on many pictures.

Yes, that is a posed smirk face.

Another thing that was pointed out, but I knew this already, is that I tend to roll my eyes a lot.

Has anyone ever pointed out “typical you’s” to you? Or can you name some of yourself?

Have you noticed any in my writing style?

Let me know in the comments!

  1. I think writing is a great place to see your typical “you’s”. Cute article, it made me think about that famous Zig Ziglar quote: “You are the sum of the 5 people you hang out with the most.” since it seems you’s are contagious, especially when we are in rapport with the other people.

  2. One of my co-workers said: “You’re so quiet”. Again. So I finally said: “You’re so loud.” I think I might have burned a bridge there. Some people can dish, but can’t take.

Other than that, there is probably plenty of the “typical me’s”, but I can’t think of any at this time.
Some people don’t pay that much attention to notice any typical traits. Some people think they know of some, but are incorrect.

  3. Ah that’s a good one. I will try to say that if someone ever makes that comment to me. And I’m sure they will.

On another note about colleagues: they have now decided to go swimming every Wednesday after work, together. Am I insane for thinking that’s insane?!

I think I know what type of person you are, but I could be very wrong.
You mentioned some times that you agree with how Jasper responds to things, so that could give an indication.
Do you consider yourself to be down to earth?

Ps. Sorry for the many mistakes in the blog. I’m becoming sloppy. 😑 I changed it a bit

  4. OMG. What’s up with the swimming? Everywhere you go. I’ve never heard of such idiotic thing. Especially during the week. Aren’t people tired? Don’t they have lives?

Yes, I am very much down to Earth. But that doesn’t mean that I cannot be creative.

I saw you changed the pic. I opened your post, read it, and then went to do some things. Came back, commented, and when it refreshed, I saw a different picture. And yes, your first line had repetitions, but I know how you operate, so I didn’t mention it. Glad you did correct it, though. I went and downloaded Grammarly. I haven’t used it for anything yet, aside from a browser plugin. It automatically checks for typos, repeting words and punctuation when I write a post and when I comment on other people’s posts. I’d recommend that you give it a go, but I’m not sure if it works on the app/ mobile.

  5. I like your smirk face! And that is truly so you :))
I was once called a radio bc I could talk and not stop. So everyone in that group called me radio then. This must be so me, I guess.

  6. Ahhhh! “You’re so quiet” is the one I get at work a lot too. I always want to say “maybe you are too loud!” but haven’t yet.. maybe I should🤨! For me, with my “get it done” personality, when I am in my cubicle/office, I just want to focus on things!

  7. Really liked the title of this post! One of mine is “you are sooo determined” – maybe translates to “you are so stubborn”..?…I get this from people that have known me for a while.

  8. Right?
I’ve been told “you’re so quiet” since then, but not by that same person, whom I told they were loud. Maybe they got my message?
