Does your appearance say something about your taste of music?

During my commute to work and home, I’d be usually with my headphones on.
During the pause when one song switched to another, I heard an older lady saying to her friend “That looks like a nice girl, I bet she is listening to classic music”.

Unless Dr. Dree ft. Snoop Dog is classic, I didn’t want to disappoint the woman so I just smiled friendly to her.

And speaking of associations.
I remember the first time I was invited for dinner in the “Hard Rock” cafe.
The name sounded extremely cool and I had already looked up some stuff about it on the internet.
I went with the expectation of hearing some Alice Cooper, ACDC and Bon Jovi songs, but was disappointed with Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and Christina Aguilera.

I’m a 90’s baby. My earliest and happiest memories go back to the late 90’s and early 00’s music. As embarrassing as it might be, I do indeed sometimes turn to the Backstreet Boys – N*sync era .
Besides that, my music taste can also depend on my mood, activity or season.

My boyfriend seems like the most genuine, peaceful and friendly guy (and he is).
Usually he does listen to the calmer type of music. But sometimes I hear him putting on a song which literally make my ears bleed.

I know there are some stereo types who’d you might think that they prefer a certain type of music. But doesn’t always have to be necessarily true.
Have you ever had an experience where your looks  were associated with your taste of music?

  1. I pretty much on the brim of backing off when my friends start talking about music unless I say like “oh, yeah, that’s bla bla of bla bla is rocking”
(yeah, I am not from the musical planet)…

  2. I actually like a LOT of different kinds depending on my mood. Mostly 80’s which is when I grew up and thankfully there is a radio station here that plays it. When I’m really stressed, classical or metal is all I want. When I’m with someone in a personal moment, 90’s boy bands are perfect. Etc etc. I LOVE music!
